As an adult, I crave the innocence and whimsy of childhood holidays

As a little girl, I anxiously anticipated corn mazes, pumpkin picking, bobbing for apples, canyon drives, leaf piles twice my height, costume contests, and trick-or-treating all year long. The farmland behind my family's home became the dusty route clydesdale horses guided us through on our annual neighborhood hayrides. Fall traditions thrilled me. The fresh, crisp air made me hopeful, happy, and even nostalgic. My favorite holiday season followed soon after Halloween, but I was always anxious for next year's chance at a better costume and a fuller pillow case of candy. As an adult, I crave the innocence and whimsy of childhood holidays but am never quite sure how to re-create those traditions.
