Renegade Craft Fair and a Saturday in Williamsburg

A couple weekends ago, we found ourselves with a borrowed car, an entire unplanned Saturday, and a penchant for adventure. We grabbed some cash and snacks (always a necessity), and headed to The Renegade Craft Fair in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a twenty minute drive from our neighborhood.

I'd consider myself more of a flea market/stoop sale/garage sale type of person. I like the hunt. But I'd heard wonderful things about Renegade and since we're doing an almost-exclusively handmade/homemade Christmas this year, I knew Renegade would be the perfect place to find a few special gifts and get into the holiday spirit.

After perusing both of the super crowded, festive tents, we coveted 99% of everything we saw, found dozens of new shops we loved, ran into several friends, got our picture taken, and bought several gifts. It was lovely. I made a new friend, Alexis, and discovered her amazing new children's goods shop, Little Name. I was immediately drawn to her adorable booth and could not stop admiring all the tiny details of every inch of her table. It was truly incredible. Her goods feel like Maine + whimsy to me and I'm totally getting those shoelaces for Silas when he's a bit older. It was such a pleasure to discover Alexis and Little Name, I wrote all about it on Design Mom today.

Once we'd finished with Renegade, we walked through The Brooklyn Flea (which is food-only on Saturdays. Goods are on Sundays). It was our first time to the East River Brooklyn Flea though we frequent the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene for Red Hook papusas, The Good Fork sandwiches, lemon poppy seed Dough doughnuts, and tiny treasures often. It was a fun change and a gorgeous view of the city. There were so many vendors (60+), there's a map posted at the entrance to guide visitors to their favorites. It was hunger mayhem after five minutes so we cruised over to Krift Dogs on the main drag to get hot dogs, fries, and lemonade. Surprisingly inexpensive for the best hot dog I've ever tasted. Delicious x 10!

It was a winning Saturday with adventure, new places, and the two people I love the most. Just one more experience that makes me love where I live that much more. Have you done anything adventurous lately?

P.S. We ate brunch at our Favorite brunch place in New York, Cafe Moto. I love the baked eggs, homemade donuts, apple pancakes with toffee sauce, and the warm date cake. See this
